Another restrictive pre-employment question

In Massachusetts and Delaware, if you ask a pre-employment question about previous compensation after January 1, 2018, you will be afoul of the law.

The generic term for such laws is “pay equity legislation.”  It’s supposed to be an effort to help close the “gender pay gap.”  These other jurisdictions have passed pay equity legislation:

  • Puerto Rico
  • New York City
  • Oregon
  • Philadelphia
