MRPC is seeking a Tooling Engineer to support our aggressive sales strategy of medical device and component manufacturing. The successful candidate will have several years of experience in Plastic Injection Mold Tooling from the design to the successful launch into production. The ideal candidate will possess the following attributes and responsibilities:
Expert understanding of lnnovative Injection Mold tooling Lead Tool Design Reviews
Ability to review part designs (draft, side-actions, shutoffs, etc.)
Understanding of fixture design for secondary operations and/or inspection
Manage tooling projects on time and on budget
Manage all outside tooling vendors
Root cause analysis and corrective action implementation
Provide support and direction for internal tool makers
Ensure tooling reliably produces parts that meet print tolerances and capability requirements
Communicate tooling status and tooling risk effectively
Understanding good manufacturing processes and advanced quality planning (APQP)
Excellent communication skills
Medical molding experience is a plus
Thermoplastic injection molding experience is a plus
Ability to represent MRPC well to our customers and suppliers
Education & Experience:
Learn the culture, company services and contribute to the strategic direction of the company.
Develop, in conjunction with the VP of Engineering, strategies and action plans for advancing the engineering and product development within the organization.
Lead the product development of new parts, assemblies and/or programs from early design concept into production.
Evaluate and justify auxiliary equipment/services purchases.
Write and maintain FDA level validation protocols and reports.
Participate in the estimating function for new tooling and revisions (to include part pricing, material selection, lead times, and some tooling components).
Manage programs to ensure requirements and specifications are met within budget and timeline.
Support development of quality engineering and manufacturing engineering plans.
An engineering degree/related technical field and/or five or more years of experience is required. Salary commensurate with qualifications.
