We are currently accepting applications for a Blown Films Manufacturing Engineer at our manufacturing facility in Traverse City, Michigan.
The Blown Films Manufacturing Engineer will evaluate, develop and improve current manufacturing processes. Will be responsible to manage, troubleshoot and upgrade the current extrusion and converting equipment to reduce down time and improve throughput and quality.
Job Responsibilities: -Evaluates manufacturing processes; applying knowledge of film extrusion and film converting; conferring with equipment vendors; soliciting observations from operators. -Develops manufacturing processes by studying product requirements; researching, designing, modifying, and testing manufacturing methods and equipment; conferring with equipment vendors. -Keeps equipment operational by coordinating and recommending maintenance and repair services; following manufacturer's instructions and established procedures; requesting special service. -Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
Desired Skills & Experience -Must have 5 years experience in blown film extrusion and co-extrusion. Bag converting experience a plus. -Demonstrated process trouble-shooting ability. -Hands-on mechanical and electrical experience and ability to read schematics. -Working professional knowledge of hydraulics, pneumatics, programmable logic controllers and electrical systems. -Experience with AC/DC motors and drives, vacuum loading systems, chillers, compressors and temperature control units. -Leadership abilities with a hands-on approach. -Result & action orientation. Attention to detail. -Multitasking, prioritization & time management skills. -Open positive communication style. Seek input from operations personnel and relay findings and outcome(s) to expanded team. Good listening skills. Positive attitude. Herrmann Ultrasonics, Inc. is looking for a committed, customer-focused Sales Engineer to assist in supporting day to day business in the Northeast market (e.g. MA, NY, NJ, PA, DE) based out of the Boston area.
COMPANY The family-owned company was founded in 1961. The global headquarters is located in southwest Germany. The company develops, manufactures and distributes components and machines for the ultrasonic plastic welding industry. As the technology leader, Herrmann Ultrasonics has a leading market position in the upper quality segment. For decades we've closely worked with end customers and OEMs. This resulted in a deep understanding of specific customer requirements and application related developments. The company has created an excellent foundation for further growth due to constant focus on technology and quality leadership. Understanding customers' requirement and developing new solutions for different applications has allowed us to successfully enter into new markets. The North American headquarters in Bartlett, IL is located 30 miles west of the Chicago O'Hare International Airport. The modern 20,000 sq. building was built in 2006 and includes application labs, inventory, machine set-up area, design and tooling manufacturing.
POSITION The candidate will eventually work out of a new yet to be opened Tech Center in the Northeast. The position reports to the Product Manager PLASTICS. The candidate will telephone and visit customers to solicit new business, and act as an intermediary between our customers and the North American headquarters. The applicant will assist in various stages of a customer's project including determination of weld feasibility, generating quotations, project management during manufacturing and after sale machine set up and support. Up to 50% overnight travel is required. Upon completion of intensive training in Bartlett, IL, the candidate will be expected to accomplish the above duties independently, and will be given responsibility for the Northeast regional sales territory.
QUALIFICATIONS Excellent technical sales and people skills are a must. Minimum 3 years technical sales experience in the capital equipment market. Ability to explain and give technical equipment demonstrations. Quickly develop rapport with the customer, to establish Herrmann Ultrasonics not as a commodity supplier, but rather the technology leader and focus on selling technological advantages. Independently manage daily activities within the sales territory. Effectively prospect and focus on generating new business. An understanding of plastic materials, familiarity with injection molding, mechanical aptitude, good communications skills and computer proficiency are essential. A BS in an engineering related field is required. Proficient in MS Office.
